What an accomplishment!!! Great job Monica and Carsten!!!!!

Town and Country Agility and Rally team member, Monica Jones, was named UKC's 2009 Total Junior Award winner!

The Total Junior Award recognizes the Total Junior Members who have successfully trained and participated with their dogs in multiple UKC Dog Events Programs. To be eligible for this award, a participant must earn points from the UKC licensed Junior Showmanship classes and at least two of the following performance events: Agility, Dog Sport, Obedience and/or Weight Pull. Points for this award may be accumulated from all eligible events and classes. However, if point totals from any single event exceed 60 percent of the Junior Members total combined points, the Junior Member is disqualified from being eligible for this award. All Junior members eligible for the award will then be ranked by their Total points earned to determine the Total Junior Award winner. The Total Junior award is aligned with the UKC Total Dog™ philosophy of “Our Dogs Do Stuff” and rewards the Junior Member's substantial involvement in a variety of events

Monica finished in the Top 10 in her Region in Junior Showmanship, Agility and Weight Pull and will therefore be invited to compete in all 3 of these events in July at the International Dog Show in Richmond,

Indiana. This event, called Premier, is the UKC version of AKC's Westminster. Additionally, her dog Carsten, finished on the UKC Year End All Star list as: tied for first in his division for Terrier Racing - Steeple and was #2 in Terrier Racing - Flat. She will receive her Total Junior Award at this event.

Penny Leigh and her super-duper flyball dogs!

Brett and June update from Penny:

We competed in the NAFA Flyball Championships in Indianapolis this past weekend with our team Fur Fun - and Brett's team won the Veterans division on Sunday!
In addition, June's team won the Division 1-D on Saturday and qualified for the Finals on Sunday by clocking a time of 16.24 seconds. The top 16 fastest times on Saturday qualified for the finals and we entered the championships on Sunday as the 11th seed. Although we got knocked out of the championship rounds by those 15.something second teams, we were very proud and excited to make it that far at our first trip to the nationals. June ran great as the anchor dog on her team and turned in some 3.8 and 3.9 second heats.

Town and Country agility instructors perform at RailHawks half-time show!

No, not as part of the RailHawks dance team, but with their dogs during AKC night at the Carolina RailHawks game! Thanks to our friends and students who came out to cheer us on! Thanks to Dr. Timothy Carter for these wonderful photos! Thanks to the AKC and the Railhawks for this fun opportunity! RailHawks win 3-0!! Yay RailHawks!

Awaiting their turn from the side-lines, Penny and Pam discuss joining the RailHawks Dance Team but decide the costumes look too uncomfortable!

Penny and Brett run first!

It's a smart dog that will grab his lead from the field without losing stride and complete the course! It was the lead that knocked the bar- not the dog!!

Yay, it's Remy's turn! Start line "rev-up"...

That was FUN!<img alt="Yay!
Grainger and Oakley do well at trial!

Town and Country trainer, Laura Bullock, and her furbabies did very well this weekend!

Note from Laura:

Grainger finished on Saturday as BOW with another 5-pt major!
I'm so excited... my first show dog, my first Champion (owner-handled all the way).
He got a cheeseburger (which I made him split with his sister, Oakley) on Saturday. Since I cannot show him in BOB (AKC rules) I didn't show him on Sunday, and he was jumping up and down ringside wanting to go in.
Oakley made her debut and didn't get excused from the ring, so that was my goal! She's doing great - a little overwhelmed with the show environment - especially in Greenville, where the show is really loud like Atlanta. So, my kids did very well this weekend!
