ALAFAIR (Alf), CGC

AlaFair is approximately 8 years old and was a rescue. She has brought great joy to our lives, as has her son, Splash, who was adopted by one of our good friends. (Alf had puppies when she was rescued.) Alf was terrified of everything when we first got her and she would tremble whenever taken out in public. We are so proud that AlaFair passed her CGC test with flying colors!! She has come a long way!! She is currently competing in TDAA agility games.

Remy came into ours lives when he was only 10 weeks old! He was about 20 pounds of spunk and spirit in 3 pounds of puppy! We signed him up for Penny Leigh's puppy class and the rest is history!
He has been awarded his AKC Excellent Agility Title (AX), his AKC Excellent Agility Jumpers Title (AXJ), Teacup Beginner Agile Dog Title(TBAD), Teacup Games 2 Title (TG2) and his Rally Advanced Title (RA).
The highpoint of Remy's agility career was coming in second High in Trial at Poodle Nationals in 2009. Remy missed High in Trial by 2 seconds!
He is currently competing in agility (AKC and TDAA) and Rally (AKC).
Remy had a brief but fantastic acting career in the AKC Safety Around Dogs film to be released in 2009/2010.

Remy in TDAA tunnelAndrew and Remy

Remy scored 1st and 3rd place in "gamers" in his first Teacup Dog Agility Association trial to earn two legs toward his TDAA G-1 title!! It was tons of fun!
Remy did not Q at all on the standard courses because he hated the teacup teeter and refused to go over it!!! We gotta work on that! Since we had never even seen the TDAA obstacles before we walked into the ring, I am really pleased that Remy took to all but one obstacle without having been trained on them.

Teacup Agility includes all dogs less than 17 inches at the withers (so 16 inches is the highest jump height). All obstacles are scaled down in size and the course is very small and tight. The idea is to make a course look to a 16 inch dog like an AKC course might look to a 24 inch dog!! It adds a whole new dimension for people who run small dogs! ...not to mention, the course is as cute as it can be!!!

The trial was hosted by Pup'N Iron dog training facility in Fredricksburg, Va and was one of the first TDAA trials in this area. Pup'N Iron is owned by Laurie Williams. (If you watched the reality show, Greatest American Dog, Laurie was on the show with her awesome Maltese- Andrew.) Laurie is a dog trainer with her main focus in Obedience and Rally (Andrew is a very accomplished Obedience and Rally dog). Laurie and I have chatted via e-mail about training, small dogs, agility etc, but had never met. It was great to meet her and an honor to be there to see Andrew perform in his first agility trial!!! Andrew did very well, earning two titles!! Andrew and Laurie presented Remy and me with an Andrew "replica" doll and although we won a first and third place ribbon, the Andrew doll is our most cherished prize of the weekend!

America's National Specialty- Salisbury Maryland!Remy took second place in his class in Agility on both standard and jumpers and he also took second in Rally. He won three new Titles!! Here's the best part- he was 1.4 seconds from High in Trial!! He came in second place overall for all the dogs running agility (98 total)!! That includes at least one dog that competed and placed at Agility Nationals (since they did not Q on the course)!!!! For a team that has had some speed issues, that is really something! I am shocked and so proud and happy! I never dreamed we would do so well. He clearly loves being around poodles! Thank you Penny Leigh for your wonderful coaching!! We could not have realized this dream without you.

(April 18, 2009): Remy does one JWW course at Durham Kennel Club and comes in second place for his second Novice Prefered Jumpers leg! We're ready for Nationals!

(March 21 and 22, 2009): Remy's back on the scene!! After several months of recovery from his back injury and after a training session with Kate Moureaux to help work on our speed, Remy competed on his first preferred course (we had to start back in Novice, of course!! I LOVE Novice Class! ) Out of 4 runs we were awarded 2 blue (1st place) ribbons a red (second place) ribbon and an NQ for taking an extra jump on JWW! What a great weekend!! Thank you, Ian Stewart, for these photos!
